Construction of the First Modern Concrete Highway

The main route of 147-kilometer national highway was built in the 1960s. Today, thanks to Dyckerhoff, a partner of Onur Construction International and Altcom LLC, part of the old asphalt road is transformed into a modern 4-lane cement concrete highway. The construction of 80-kilometer section with two large-scale traffic interchanges, which began in 2017, will take 5 years. Now the movement is already open on 15-kilometer section on various concrete layers on the right traffic way. In total, around 15 thousand vehicles move on a highway per day, at the same time 3 of 5 vehicles are trucks. Therefore, it was decided to use the cement concrete, more wear-resistant coating. The standard of transport load, which is taken when designing the cement concrete road, is 12.5 t per axle (for asphalt concrete it is 7.5 t).
