YUGcement

Yugcement OJSC (former Olshansky cement plant) is the largest cement plant in the south of Ukraine with its designed production capacity of more than 1,25 million tons of cement per year.

The plant is located near the village Olshanske, Nikolaev district, 35 km from the city of Nikolaev, about 80 km from Kherson and 130 km from Odessa. It is connected with other industrial centres of the country by the Odessa railway and the Odessa-Simferopol motorway which run along close to it.

Products of the enterprise are used for construction work in the local ship-building and aluminous plant, port construction, nuclear power plants, roads, apartment houses, agricultural, cultural and public amenities. Cement from Yugcement was also used for the construction of the Kiev - Odessa motorway, reconstruction of the Yalta quay and the Odessa Opera Theatre, as well as for the most important construction sites on the territory of the Crimean peninsula.

All cements are made according to State standards of Ukraine about cement production. Quality control is secured by a well equipped laboratory based on the most modern equipment like for example a roentgen fluorescent analyzer. The laboratory is accredited by the Nikolaev state centre of standardization, metrology and certification.

Quality control of cement at Yugcement is proven to be complying to the norms and standards with certificates given by SEPROTSEM Institute, Kharkiv, which on a regular basis carries out technical supervision on conformity.

Quarry:

Chalk quarry:

• Distance - 2,5 km. from the plant;
• The area - 244 hа.

Explored resources:

• Limestone 26,75 mln.t;
• Clay 3,45 mln.t;
• Low-grade clay 4,5 mln.t.

There are works on commissioning a new deposit of the limestone and the clay, located in 6 km. to the South from the plant.

Quarry techniques and equipment:

• CAT D8N the bulldozer with ripper;
• CAT 980 G a loader.

Electric excavators:

• 5 excavators -5m3;
• 1 walking excavator of 10 m3.

Raw shop:

• 2 bar mills - diameter 4,5х5,5m, 350 t/h;
• 2 ball mills - diameter 3,2х15 m, 135 t/h;
• Preliminary crushing - 2 jaw crushers, 500 t/h;
• Secondary crushing - 2 beating crushers, 500 t/h;
• 2 slurry basins - 6000m3, coarse slurry with a high and low titre;
• 2 slurry basins of slurry supply to kilns, 6000m3, for finished slurry.

Kilns:

• 2 big wet process kilns - diameter 5х185 m, 8 tyres 1,24 rev/min; Fuel - gas; designed production capacity - 70 t/h; the electric motor - 400 kw; grate coolers of Russian manufacture.

Cement grinding:

• 4 two-chambered ball cement mills, diameter 3,2х15 m, 16,8 rev/min, productivity 50 t/h.

Production storage and packing:

• 4 concrete silos for clinker storage h 20 m, diameter 12 m, 4 th.tons;
• Slag dryer, diameter 3,2х27 m, 55 t/h;
• 4 silos for gypsum 20 m high in diameter of 12 m, 3,2 th.tons;
• 4 silos for slag 20 m high - diameter of 12 m, 3 th.tons;
• 8 cement silos the common capacity 36 th.t;
• The packing line - 45 t/h;
